HAIR CARE

I get a lot of questions about my HAIR! First things first- I have extremely thick hair. My entire family has the thickest hair you’ve ever seen. ha-ha! (If you know us, you know how insane it is) So no, I don’t wear extensions. Second, I do NOT color my hair.(I wrote this before I actually did color my hair-but I will not be making a habit of it. One and done type of deal! ha-ha) So I know that plays a big part in the health of my hair as well. But I do have other secrets that I think help, So I am going to share them with you!

1. I shower and wash my hair at night! I know a lot of people shower in the morning, but with my 3 littles running around, I don’t have time in the morning. Plus I like getting in my clean sheets to go to bed, feeling clean too! The nights I wash my hair, I will brush it with my wet brush, then braid it! (Pony tails or top-knots put a lot of tension on your hair, which can cause it to break) The nights I don’t wash it, I will still braid it. (If you don’t know how to braid, learn! It really is so simple, and Braids are the bomb.com.)

2. I haven’t used a blow dryer on my hair in…I can’t even remember! My hair is naturally straight, but that is another reason why the braids are helpful!! If you have naturally frizzy hair, straight hair, curly hair etc. the braid will give it a cute wave once it’s dry!

3. Not only do I not blow dry my hair, but I very rarely use any form of heat! My go-to hair styles are braids, the waves left over from my braids, a top-knot/double top-knot. On a rare occasion I will curl my hair, but when I say rare, I mean RARE. Ha-ha.

4. Besides dry shampoo, I don’t use products on my hair. The more products you use, the more gunk/chemicals are in your hair.

5. Speaking of dry shampoo, it is my life savor. Why? Because washing my hair happens once a week, maybe. Here is how it goes; Wash. day 1-Braid. day 2-waves. day 3-waves&Half up top-knot. day 4-Top-knot. Day 5-double top knot. Day 6-Braid. Day 7-Dry shampoo&waves. day 8-hat. Wash&repeat. Ha-ha Okay that’s not exactly how it goes all of the time, but that is pretty dang close. Go longer than you think you can between washes-you and your hair will thank me for it later!! 😉

6. I use Costco shampoo&conditioner or good old Pantene Pro-v. I am a licensed cosmetologist, so I know a lot of you will challenge me on this. But Me (and my hair) will challenge you right back 😉 I have used the (expensive) fancy stuff, and didn’t see a single difference. And since my hair takes up an entire bottle in one wash..let’s just say with the cheap stuff, My wallet is happy, my hair is happy, I am happy. Ha-ha!!

7. Lastly, every single night before bed,  I brush my hair with my Y.S Park Brush (or wet brush if it’s wet) and massage my scalp. Sometimes I will lay on the end of my bed and let my hair fall towards the ground, with my head hanging upside down to get more blood flow to the roots of my hair. Not only does it help with hair growth, but it helps calm me down for the night!

SO, there you have it! Those are my current Hair Secrets! I hope you try some of my tips&tricks, and that they work for you!

Cheers to dirty(healthy) hair 😉 😉 😉

Waffles

One of my resolutions this year was to be more “health conscious” with what I put in and on my body! This Recipe was given to me by a friend (Jade, if you are reading this- THANK YOU!! It has been a game changer!) My kids love it, I love it, and my husband loves it! And so far, anyone that I make them for becomes a fan as well! So it’s a WIN all across the board!!

Introducing my HEALTHY WAFFLES!!! Healthy Waffles?? Get out of town right?! But they are healthy, easy and as tasty as can be!!

Recipe:

4 Egg Whites & 1 Whole Egg

DSC00017

1/2 Cup Oatmeal

DSC00014

1/2 Cup Cottage Cheese *People have said they hated cottage cheese, and they loved my waffles! You can’t taste it I promise!!!*

DSC00023

Mix it all up in a BLENDER! *I know my blender is dirty- it’s on my to do list okay? 😉 Ha-ha*

DSC00025

Then get your waffle Iron ready to go! * I actually turn mine on before I do anything else, that way it is hot and ready to go as soon as you are done with the blender!*

DSC00029

Then spray the Iron and pour mixture lightly and evenly!

DSC00049

I like to use Walden Farms Syrup! It has ZERO calories! You can obviously use any syrup you like, but this is what I use!

DSC00078

This recipe makes about 3 full waffles! You can double, tripple, or half it! It’s up to you!!

When the waffle iron tells you it’s done, it’s done! Pour the Syrup and enjoy!! Was that easy or what?!

BON’ APETITE!!!!

*If any of you have fast, yummy & easy recipes please-o-please send them my way!!*

Thanks 🙂

The begining of our story..

High school sweethearts, raise your hand. *raising my hand*  And we even go back a little bit more. We have known each other since 9th grade!! I remember the day I met Stanley. My crush on him was instant. He will finally now admit that he felt the same way! Ha-ha! However, I always had a boyfriend and he always had a girlfriend. It wasn’t until our senior year of high school when we were both single and finally were able to give it a go! And- we’ve been together ever since!

Stanley is an athlete. An amazing one at that. He was offered a scholarship to the University of Southern California- USC- right out of high school! I got a job dancing for the Utah Jazz, so we decided to give the long distance thing a try. We did for 4 years. And it was 4 years too long. So I finally decided to move to Cali, where I got a job dancing for the Los Angeles Clippers. Finally living near each other, we had so much fun! Then, Stanley was drafted to the Philadelphia Eagles. So long distance we thought would just be our thing. Not for long. We ended up getting married, I moved to Philly, and we had our daughter, Holiday, all with in that next year. To say it was insane would be an understatement.

After living in Philly for a little over a year, Stanley got traded to the Indianapolis Colts! I decided to put my dancing shoes back on and try for the Indiana Pacers dance team. I made the Pacemates, and had such an incredible experience with that organization! My season with them however, didn’t last too long. I got pregnant! Surprise!! So I hung the dancing shoes back up and got ready for baby #2! My son, Hinckley, came and the madness just continued! He got whopping cough at 1 week old, at the exact same time my daughter had hand foot mouth. Did I mention this all happened while Stanley was away at football camp? yeah- it wasn’t Awesome. Ha-ha! But we survived that chaos, only to learn that we were traded again. Next stop, Seattle! For a month. madness continued.

From the time we met, until January 2015 our life had been a giant roller coaster, and has really continued to be a roller coaster(Just a little bit more of an enjoyable one 😉 haha) We were sealed for time and all eternity, we bought a house, a dog, had our third baby Haven, had 10 puppies, and are going to be moving AGAIN in 2 weeks!!  Ahhh! But I am so incredibly grateful for all of our experiences we have had along the way, and for all the memories we have made!

Our story is far from over, and I can’t wait for what is next! So here is to new adventures! With my family by my side, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY

TRANSORMATION TUESDAY

I thought that since I was pretty much done dancing, that my flexibility would have to be done too. But that couldn’t be further from the truth! I used to be pretty darn flexible and now I can barely touch my toes! So, as embarrassing as these pictures are to post (I took them on the grass because being on a flat surface hurt my knees, another thing as a dancer you are totally used to!! ahhh my life!!! ha-ha!) I have to show you my starting point! Because we all have to start somewhere! I have made a goal to stretch for 15 minutes every morning! I will be setting my alarm at 7:30am (which if you know me, you know this is EARLY! We sleep in at my house!) I will grab my giant thing of water, and my SPARK, ha-ha, and head outside to get some fresh air and STRETCH!! I am going to be posting pictures of my progress to show you, you do NOT have to be flexible to become flexible. It just takes a little bit of work.

SO that is why this post is called Transformation Tuesday! Now let’s hope we see some flexible transforming!!! Ha-ha!!

Makeover Monday

Being in the industry I was in, makeup became a part of me. Which is funny because I never wore makeup before dancing for the Utah Jazz. And even after making the team, they told me I needed to wear more. I was totally clueless on how to do it, So I would watch other girls and wing it, or I would just have them do it for me! Then I moved to LA and danced for the Los Angeles Clippers. There we were sponsored by MAC and were given an actual makeup class. It was amazing. That day I remember going home and practicing my makeup for hours! I loved it!! And have loved it ever since!!

Another thing I came to love was spray tans. I admit it- I like being tan. I worked at a tanning salon in high school and would tan in a bed far too often. SO bad, I know! But I was introduced to spray tans the same time I was introduced to make up, and I haven’t looked back since! #teamspraytan

I get to continue doing these things I love on friends, family, clients, and myself (on very, very few occasions 😉 )! I love getting new clients, So email me for any bookings! I do weddings, special occasions, dances, group parties or just fun makeovers and consultations!

To book an appointment for makeup or spray tans please email me 🙂

Haven Elene

Haven Elene Havili. First, the middle name Elene is after my grandmother. She had a special relationship with Stanley and my kiddos, and we just thought it was perfect. We sure love and miss our Grandma Elene.

Now, Haven. Her name is so special to me. Haven means safe, or safe place. Because of this I knew from the get-go, if we were having a girl, her name would be Haven. Let me explain..

If you know me, you know I have wanted another baby since the day my son was born. I was just.. ready for another. To some, or most, that probably sounds crazy. Haha. But it’s the truth. Unfortunately my marriage was in NO place for us to have another. If you don’t know our story of my husbands addiction and all that has happened, click here, but as soon as we got to a place where I felt safe in my marriage, I knew I wanted to start trying for our angel baby!

She truly is our families angel. Our safe Haven. Not only do I believe she was in the hotel room with Stanley that Day he attempted to take his life, keeping him safe, I also believe her sweet spirit was keeping me and her siblings safe through all the dark times as well.

I am so thankful to be where I am in my life, and that we were able to bring this amazing girl to our family. I love her so much and I can’t wait to see how special she will be as she grows! 💕

Now- as for the mystery blanket! Ha-ha! I had SO many comments about that blanket. So here’s how it went down. The amazing @audreysbear offered to send me an announcement blanket. I told them I would LOVE that, but that I didn’t know the gender. So, they went above and beyond for me, and told me to pick out a girl and boy blanket. Then to send them the names, and our gender in an envelope (I had my dr put it in one so I wouldn’t be tempted to look) and sent it their way. Then they sent me the final blanket and I had to wait 3 WEEKS until the hospital to open it. Having it sit in the closet was torture. I eventually had to hide it so we wouldn’t open it. Ha-ha. But it was so worth the wait 🙂 *to learn more about audreysbear and their mission, click here*

So there you have it! An explanation of the mystery blanket and the meaning behind my angel baby’s name.

Mommy Must Haves!

Today I am going to share with you guys 6 companies that are on my “Mommy must-have Monday” list. I can’t wait to have a baby to use these amazing products with, but for now I am just going to tell you about them and share some pictures 🙂

1- The Dockatot. I am sure most of you have heard of it, but I asked a couple months ago what was a must have that my mommy friends had to have, and no joke, 95% said the doctatot. So I am SO excited to have partnered with them to be able to try this GENIUS baby pillow!! Now all I need is a baby to put in it! 🙂

2- The Ollie Swaddle! I will admit it, I have never got down the “swaddle”. Every time I would swaddle, it would come un-done. So, I am so happy to have this blanket to keep the baby swaddled! The way they have designed it, and the material, it is perfect. This is also going in my hospital bag because.. Swaddle. Go check out their website and see this thing in action. (Since I don’t have a baby to show it on. ha-ha) And, I have to talk about the packaging..cutest ever!

3-  Lorena Canals Rug. All of these pictures are taken on my Lorena Canal Rug! The rug I picked out is the Braids Pearl Gray.  Since we don’t know the gender of this baby, I wanted to pick something that was gender neutral. But the best thing about these rugs, they are MACHINE WASHABLE!!!! 2 toddlers, a dog, and a new born baby.. We are a giant mess waiting to happen. Ha-ha. So knowing that I don’t have to be a stress case whenever they are on this rug, is So relieving! You spilt your drink? Throw it in the wash. woot woot!

4- Binxy Baby. I am sure we have all had the grocery cart struggle when the carseat takes up the entire cart and so you have no room for food. Not to mention the other kids you have with you that are hanging on to the sides for dear life. Ha-ha! Binxy Baby to the rescue! This shopping cart hammock is going to save me some sure tears when I venture out for the first time with all 3 kiddos. Yes, I am mentally preparing NOW. Ha-ha!!

5- Milestone Original Activity Cards. These cards are such a fun way to remember and document our babies “firsts”! We plan on going to california this summer, where I will be using the first flight card, first time at the beach card, first amusement park card, and many more! The cards are not only a fun way to remember these moments, but they are adorable!!

6- Finn+Emma Play Gym. The picture I have is from their website, because this is one item that I really want to be able to get gender specific. And I figure a newborn doesn’t need it for the first little bit so I will have time to put my order in as soon as we know what this mystery baby is!! But back to the Play gym.. how amazing is it?! All of the wood details- I’m obsessed! And then all of the toys and clothing that they offer, is all So cute and just has that “special” feeling. I’m going to have a hard time deciding what exactly I want. Knowing the gender will hopefully help a little. ha-ha!

Once again, I can’t wait to have a baby to use all of these fun, amazing products with! Come baby come! 2 WEEKS! (or sooner- that would be fine with me. ha-ha!)

Thanks for joining me for my “Mommy must-have Monday!” I hope your Monday has been amazing!!

PinkBlush

When you find the perfect maternity piece for the Holidays, you have an impromptu photoshoot after church right?? Ha-ha! Well that’s what I did at least. (warning: Do not have your husband take pictures of you near snow…#snowballfight)

I just wanted to share with you guys my absolute favorite maternity clothing Company! It is Called PINK BLUSH. Pink Blush has the cutest maternity clothing! And not only is it cute, it is AFORDABLE!!!! So many times I have wanted to purchase certain maternity clothing items, but the price tag was ridiculous! And being that we only wear the clothing for what, maybe 5-6 months depending on how fast you start showing(in my case very fast) I just can’t justify breaking the bank for clothing!  They also know how important fabric choices are for pregnant mamas, so it is all so comfortable!! And to top it off, the quality is amazing. I get nervous doing online orders, especially when pregnant, because you just never know how it’s going to fit and feel etc.! But I can honestly say everything I have from Pink Blush has been fabulous. So, with all of the said, I just wanted to let you all know about them, because this is my THIRD pregnancy and my FIRST time knowing about them. And I wish someone would have told me sooner. So here I am, telling all of you! 🙂

Go check them out and have a GREAT Sunday!
